  About Common Services Centers Scheme

Common Services Centers (CSCs) are a strategic cornerstone of the Digital India programme. They are the access points for delivery of various electronic                services to villages in India, thereby contributing to a digitally and financially inclusive society.

CSCs enable the three vision areas of the Digital India programme:

CSCs are more than service delivery points in rural India. They are positioned as change agents, promoting rural entrepreneurship and building rural capacities and livelihoods. They are enablers of community participation and collective action for engendering social change through a bottom-up approach with key focus on the rural citizen.

G2C Services – Government to Citizen

One of the primary directives of the CSC scheme is to provide Government to Citizen (G2C) services. Various G2C services of central government ministries and departments are integrated on the Digital Seva Portal through the CSC network for distribution to citizens in rural and remote areas of the country.

CSC Services Business to Citizen (B2C)

These are the services that cannot be provided by the government to the public except through private organizations or private businesses. There are many such services being delivered to people by private companies. Such services are also provided through CSCs in the following manner:

Education Services

The work of delivering education services across the entire country is also carried out through CSCs. There are still many places in the country where access to education is limited. CSCs have already connected such places and now, benefiting from this connectivity, the government delivers a variety of education services through CSCs to these remote areas. The list of education services provided through CSC includes, but is not limited to, the following:

CSC Education Services

CSC Health SERVICES 2023

Earlier, the government faced many challenges in delivering health-related services to rural communities across the country. Due to the absence of government facilities in remote areas, these services couldn't reach the people, causing significant hardships for our village residents. However, after the introduction of CSCs, the expansion of health-related services in villages has greatly improved. Through CSCs, a wide range of health services are now accessible across every corner of the country.

Agriculture ServiceIn India, agriculture holds a significant historical importance. Today, India ranks second globally in agricultural production. In 2012, agriculture along with allied sectors such as forestry and fisheries contributed 13.9% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employed nearly 60% of the total workforce. Despite agriculture's declining economic contribution to India's overall GDP, it remains a crucial sector both geographically and socio-economically, playing a pivotal role in the country's socio-economic fabric.

Considering these circumstances, CSCs (Common Service Centers) play a crucial role in providing various services to farmers to promote agricultural development. In remote areas where CSCs are located, they offer all types of services related to agriculture through CSC Jan Seva Kendras.

CSC Agriculture Service

Through CSC centers established by the central government, banking services are extended to promote financial inclusion, offering a variety of services in the banking sector facilitated specifically through CSCs. Here is a list of some of the banking services provided:

Aadhaar Services

Through CSC Jan Seva Kendras, Aadhaar services are extended to remote areas. Initially, all CSC operators were tasked with Aadhaar card-related services. However, later on, due to UIDAI regulations aimed at enhancing Aadhaar security, many services related to Aadhaar were reduced. For example, the service of Aadhaar card enrollment is mostly not available at CSC centers anymore. Currently, some Aadhaar-related services are still provided through CSCs.

CSC Insurance Services

Insurance is crucial in today's world, yet its availability has not reached India's smaller towns and villages until now. To expand its reach, CSC has taken a significant step forward. Through CSCs, insurance services are now available, benefiting all small and large villages across the country.

Skills Training

Through CSCs, skill training services are provided where many CSC operators establish skill training centers within their CSC centers. They offer training to youth and students from villages and remote areas, providing them with certificates upon completion. Skill training can encompass various types, all of which are made available through CSCs.

CSC Travel SevaTravel-related services have become essential daily conveniences in today's times. The impact of travel-related issues is increasing day by day due to the rising population, making it challenging for people to manage various aspects such as booking tickets and checking the availability of transport. These tasks have now been digitized, posing difficulties for those who lack internet access or digital literacy.

Addressing this issue, CSC operators provide travel-related services through their Jan Seva Kendra (CSC), thereby making traveling much easier for people.

DigiPay 2023

CSC e-Governance Services India Limited has collaborated with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to launch the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS), where CSC operates as Business Correspondents. This payment system is known as DIGIPAY.

Using the Aadhaar authentication service provided by UIDAI, this system facilitates the distribution of various government entitlements such as NREGA, social security pensions, disability pensions, and elderly pensions, among others, through any central or state government institution/unit.

The system relies on an individual's demographic and biometric/iris information based on Aadhaar, which helps mitigate risks associated with fraud or non-genuine activities. Aadhaar provides authentication services to citizens/customers anytime, anywhere, and in any manner. This service currently operates on Windows and Android-based laptops/desktops/mobile phones.
